Biography

Simon Blake is an award winning writer, director and producer.

he Valencia Film Festival. Awayday was broadcast on Channel 4 and was chosen by the British Council for the programme “Best of British” being screened at more than fifty festivals worldwide.

Simon wrote Heaven’s Only Daughter, a feature film for the independent film maker Philip Harder and has also written a further four short films.

Simon was Artistic Director of the Theatre Company Changeinspeak between 1989 and 2002 performing at venues such as BAC and The Young Vic. He has also written his first stage play in eight years, Suzanne beware of the devil. The play had a successful rehearsed reading at Soho Theatre and the producers are planning to put the play on in summer/autumn 2012.

Simon currently has two feature film projects in development with Blunt Pictures
  • 15 Minutes a black comedy written with Karl Theobald and produced by Maggi Townley (Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day). 
  • Still, a haunting psychological thriller adapted from his own stage play Lazarus Man
In 2011 Simon directed a short film for Bridgemann Quinn Productions , The Magpie sings the blues, and its first screening is scheduled for March 2012.
